The Chatham Legends are a group of retired or former Coast Guard Personnel who have served at the USCG Station Chatham. Their goal is to keep alive and to honor the history of all the crews of the Chatham Station. From famous rescues like the Pendleton, and heroes like Bernie Webber, to the hundreds of Coast Guard men and women who serve at Chatham and perform dangerous and often heroic work on a daily basis. If you ask them they say that they are"Just doing their job".

A memorial service honoring Bernard C. Webber was held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 in Wellfleet, MA. Those in attendance included Coast Guard Commandant  Admiral Thad Allen, 1st District Commander RADM Dale G. Gabel, and Master Chief PO of the Coast Guard Charles Bowen. Many others, including crew from Station Chatham and Air Station Caoe Cod, as well as Chatham Legends, were in attendance. Services, conducted by Rev. Dan Davidson, a Chatham Legend,  were held at the Wellfleet UMC, followed by a ceremony at the cemetery.
